Hey there! I’m Carroll--an imagination-driven teacher who lives for inspiring today's learners. For the past 15 years, I've been combining the latest instructional strategies with a natural, conversational approach to teaching. With my unique tutoring style, your kids will be grateful you found me! 

Direct method

All teaching is done in the target language. Translations are not allowed in class, and the focus lies heavily on speaking instead of grammar. As a result, the direct method is a very student-centered strategy that has gained popularity in recent years.

Students are supposed to learn the target language naturally and instinctively, which is why the direct method is also called the “natural approach.” Mistakes are corrected as they happen in class, and teachers reinforce the correct usage of the language with praise. This method is frequently used when teaching English online. Many virtual ESL companies require teachers to only speak English during class to encourage an immersive experience.

I have been actively teaching English to all age groups for more than 15 years, in person and online. I help with classroom instruction on reading comprehension, writing skills, grammar, and critical thinking.

The course we provide will be to aid your children in doing the best they can when at school, the syllabus will include:

• Use of phonetics to aid in identifying speech sounds (as child progresses start to use less “ah bihkih” and use “abc”).

• Voice modulation and tone

• Speaking at an even pace

Reading skills

• Pronunciation

• Comprehension of assigned texts

• Reading fiction, non-fiction, academic texts, newspapers, journals

• Interpreting and understanding passages and pictures

Writing skills:

• Correct usage of vocabulary in a sentence

• Spellings and their rules- 24 new words each week

• Appropriate usage of punctuation- commas, semi-colon, hyphen, apostrophe, etc.

• Letters- Formal vs Informal

• Essays- Academic vs Imaginative

• Cursive writing (if required)
